SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 07/23/17 at approximately 1215 hours, Troopers from the St. Johnsbury State Police barracks, responded to Interstate 91 south bound, near mile marker 111.8, for the report of a vehicle on fire.  Upon arrival on scene, members of the Ryegate Fire Department had reduced traffic to one (1) lane so as to contain the fire from spreading.  The vehicle had been towing a camper at the time of the fire, which was only minimally damaged.  During the investigation, it was reported by the operator, Joseph Lange, age 36 of Wells River, that the vehicle caught fire due to a faulty transmission.  No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.  The vehicle was completely destroyed.
