SUMMARY OF CRASH:  On July 9th 2017, at approximately 4:00 pm, Bennington Police along with the Vermont State Police responded to a one car motor vehicle crash on Mt Anthony Rd in the Town of Pownal. Police identified the operator of the vehicle as Zachary Ware.  Evidence on scene showed Ware was driving a 2002 Subaru Impreza around a slight curve, lost control and struck a tree head on. The crash caused extensive damage to the front bumper, hood and engine compartment. Speed was the contributing cause of the crash. Ware was not wearing his seatbelt however he and a passenger were not injured. Police learned that Ware's license is suspended in Vermont.  He was issued tickets for failing to maintain lane and operating with a suspended license.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.
