SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On July 31, 2017 Vermont State Police responded to a residence in Stockbridge where a 50 year old male had died of a possible electrocution.  The victim, Brent Smith, was standing in the yard with other family and friends watching someone cut branches from a tree high above.  One of the branches was accidentally dropped onto a live power line.  Smith dropped to that ground at that time and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.  Witnesses did not observe Smith to be hit by any debris; however his body may have been touching some equipment which might have conducted the electricity through his body.  Smith's body has been sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.  State Police did not find any suspicious circumstances during their investigation at the scene.
