SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On July 18, 2017 at approximately 2209 hours, troopers from the Vermont State Police-Rutland barracks, responded to a family fight on Market Street in the Town of Proctor. Investigation revealed Melanie A. Rooney, while armed with a deadly weapon -a motor vehicle, attempted to cause bodily injury to a family or household member. During this incident, Rooney placed her juvenile children in jeopardy of harm. Additionally, Rooney was observed by troopers operating a motor vehicle and displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Rooney was taken into custody, transported to the Vermont State Police barracks in Rutland Town, and processed for DUI and the other offenses. She was later transferred to the Vermont Department of Corrections for lack of bail.
