SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Guildhall, VT – 07/27/2017–, the Vermont State Police received a call at approximately 1:34 p.m. regarding a male discovered deceased at the Martin Farm in Guildhall, VT.  Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal investigation responded to investigate.

 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Richard Martin, age 73 of Guildhall, Vermont was working on a dump truck in the yard of the farm with the dump body in the up position. While working on the truck the dump body fell onto him crushing his stomach area and back between the frame and bottom of the dump body.  A worker on the farm saw him 15 minutes prior to the accident walking around the dump truck. The worker advised when he noticed the dump body had fell onto the deceased he immediately called 911 and used an excavator to lift the dump body off of the deceased.

 

The State Police, Assistant Medical Examiner, Emergency Responders and Lancaster NH Ambulance Services responded to the scene.  Martin was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

The cause of death was determined to be accidental.
