Burns lost control of his 2008 Chevy Silverado and collided with vehicle#2, a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer which was being operated by Alice E. Ely head on. Neither speed or impairment were contributing factors. Burns reported that he fell asleep at the wheel. Ely was subsequently transported to UVMC for precautionary reasons. Burns was subsequently issued a traffic ticket at the scene for failing to maintain control which carries a $220 fine and 2 points. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Jericho/Underhill Fire Department and Essex Rescue.
