SUMMARY OF CRASH:

The Vermont State Police are investigating a two-vehicle, rear-end crash that occurred northbound on Browns Trace Road in the Town of Jericho.   This crash occurred near Box 521 Browns Trace Road and north of the Fitzsimonds Road intersection.

Twenty four year old Rebekah Ovitt of Jeffersonville, Vermont was operating a 2007, Ford F150 north on Browns Trace Road.  Ovitt's vehicle rear-ended a 2007, Mack Dump Truck owned by Pike Industries and operated by 56 year old Michael Trayah of Shelburne, Vermont.  The dump truck was operating at a reduced speed while traveling uphill when it was struck from behind.   The dump truck was fully loaded with top coat asphalt at the time of the crash.

Ovitt was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.  Trayah was not injured in this crash.

Browns Trace Road was reduced to one lane at the scene for approximately two hours while the vehicles were removed and the scene was cleared.

Troopers were assisted on-scene by the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Enforcement Unit.  Other emergency services assisting at the scene included the Underhill-Jericho Fire Department and Richmond EMS.

This accident remains under investigation.  Any enforcement action will be determined pending the outcome of the investigation.
