SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 06/08/2017 at approximately 0538 hours, the Vermont State Police Westminster was notified of a tractor trailer crash on Route 11 in Londonderry approximately .6 miles west of Thompsonburg Road.

During the investigation at the scene, it was determined that vehicle #1 a 2018 Freightliner tractor trailer operated by Hernandez was traveling eastbound on Route 11 at approximately 50 miles per hour. As Hernandez proceeded east he encountered a bear in the roadway. Hernandez made an evasive driving maneuver to avoid hitting the bear. Hernandez did not hit the bear but as a result of this maneuver, he went off the roadway.

During the recovery of the tractor trailer, Route 11 was closed intermittently and a single lane of traffic was flowing for approximately 4 hours. Vermont AOT assisted at the scene with traffic control and clean up after the vehicle was towed from the scene. Hillside towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
