SUMMARY OF CRASH: On June 2nd 2017 at approximately 0939 Troopers with the VT

State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on I-91 near Mile Marker 139/6.

Troopers arrived on scene and learned that the passenger of the vehicle, who was

identified as Hugette Thompson of Lyndon, VT had been pronounced dead at the

scene due to injuries sustained as a result of the crash. The operator of the

vehicle, Richard Thompson, was transported to the hospital for injuries

sustained in the crash.

Troopers learned that the 2016 Ford Escape operated by Richard entered

I-91 South at exit 24 and was traveling on an uphill grade and around a left

curve. The roadway straightened for a short distance and then began curving to

the left again. The vehicle traveled straight off the right hand side of the

road onto a grassy shoulder, where it traveled for approximately 200 feet

through the grass before striking a rock outcropping and overturning onto its

roof.

Both the operator and passenger were wearing seat belts. The cause of

the crash is still under investigation, however neither speed or alcohol appear

to be factors. Anyone who witnessed this crash is asked to call the Vermont

State Police St. Johnsbury barracks at (802)748-3111 and ask for Trooper Lewis.
