CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Laceyville, PA

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

                On June 16, 2017 at approximately 1042 hrs, Robert Wiles (age 49) was stopped by US Customs and Border Protection Officers after driving toward the checkpoint, conducting a U-Turn and driving south in the northbound lane of Interstate 89 at the Highgate Springs Port of Entry.  Officers at the Port of Entry contacted Vermont State Police as it was believed Wiles was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both. Trooper Filipek and Trooper Bruzzi responded and conducted Field Sobriety Testing. Wiles was taken into custody, and processed at the St. Albans Barracks for DUI. He was arraigned on this day at the Franklin County Superior Court and released with a $25,000 unsecured appearance bond.
