SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On 06/13/2017 the Vermont State Police were contacted about a possible intoxicated driver in Pownal, VT.  The vehicle was reportedly operated by Andrea

Palmateer who was driving with her three young children in the vehicle, ages 3, 7 and 9.  Police were unable to initially locate the vehicle in Pownal, VT.

Several hours later Bennington Police located the vehicle and operator on Branch Street in Bennington VT. 

 

The Vermont State Police responded to assist as the call had originated in Pownal, VT.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as Andrea C. Palmateer of

Bennington, VT.  Palmateer showed several signs of impairments and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of drugs.  Palmateer was still with

her three children and had been driving with them in the vehicle while impaired.

 

Palmateer was transported to the Shaftsbury barracks where she was processed for DUI drugs.  Palmateer was also charged with three counts of Reckless Endangerment due to her children being in the vehicle with her at the time she was driving.  Palmateer was issued a court date of 06/14/17 at 12:30 PM and remanded to the Marble Valley Correctional Center in Rutland VT on $500 bail.  The children were placed in the care of a relative and were not harmed.
