VIOLATION: Driving with a License Suspended Criminally

ACCUSED: Brian C. Clair

AGE: 34

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Swanton, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On May 3rd, 2017 at approximately 2350 hours Vermont State Police St. Albans attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a silver older model Oldsmobile after a DMV records check revealed that the plates were actually registered to a red Dodge Caravan.

Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle at the bottom of I-89 southbound exit 20 and the vehicle failed to yield for approximately half a mile even as vehicles ahead of it on the roadway yielded to Troopers. The vehicle ultimately pulled into a driveway on Highgate Road in Swanton, at which point Troopers identified the operator as Brian Clair (age 34) of Swanton.

Clair advised that the driveway he had pulled into was his residence and claimed to not have seen the two fully marked State Police cruisers with fully activated lights following him for half a mile.

Investigation revealed that Clair had a criminally suspended license at the time of the stop. He was arrested and transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing he was released with a citation to appear before Franklin County Superior Court on May 30th, 2017 to answer the charge of Criminal DLS.

Additionally, Clair is being issued tickets for operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with unassigned registration plates.
