SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On May 4th 2017, VSP Shaftsbury troopers were dispatched to an overturned motor vehicle on US Route 7 in Pownal. While en route, troopers were notified that the operator involved was becoming aggressive with fire and EMS personnel on scene. The operator was identified as Conner J. Rawling. During the course of the investigation he exhibited indicators of impairment. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Due to injuries sustained in the crash, he was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

 

While at the hospital, Rawling became extremely agitated, shouting profanities and insults at hospital staff and within earshot of numerous patients including children. He was discharged from the hospital and transported to the Shaftsbury State Police barracks for continued processing, where he remained highly agitated and uncooperative. He was issued a citation to appear before the Bennington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on May 22nd 2017 at 0830 hours to answer to the charges of DUI- Refusal and Disorderly Conduct. He was released to a sober party.
