SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On May 12th 2017, at approximately 1420 hours, the Vermont State Police responded to VT RT 9 in the Town of Woodford for a rollover crash. Members of Bennington Rescue, Bennington Rural Fire Department, along with the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.  The operator was identified as Ashley M Florence.  She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.  The investigation determined Florence was driving west on VT RT 9 when she left the edge of the roadway.  She drove off the roadway for approximately 30 feet before re-entering the roadway.  Florence then crossed the center line into the opposite travel lane where she left the roadway for a second time.  She collided with a large boulder causing her the vehicle to flip and land on its roof.  Florence was wearing her seat belt and not injured during the crash. Florence did not have a valid license. While interviewing Florence she showed signs of drug impairment.  She was transported to SVMC for a medical evaluation.  At the hospital Florence was cited for DUI-drug.  She is scheduled to appear in Bennington County Criminal Court on May 29th 2017 at 0815am.  The Vermont State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
