Vermont State Police-Royalton barracks and the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit joined forces today in the White River Junction area as part of the nationwide Click-It or Ticket mobilization. Extra troopers were brought in from New Haven, Shaftsbury, Rutland, and Westminster barracks to increase staffing. This patrol focused on enforcing the speed limit, seatbelt use, and ensuring motorists are driving hands-free when utilizing cell phones. This area has been designated by the Vermont State Police and Vermont Agency of Transportation as a Safety Corridor, so Vermont State Police and Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles are focusing enforcement efforts in that area with the goal of making the roads safer and reducing crashes.  In addition to this operation, a DUI checkpoint was also conducted on VT Route 14 in the town of Royalton.  As a result of both events:


114 Total Tickets issued

52 Total Written Warnings issued

3 Total Arrests ( 1 DUI Arrest, 2 Criminal Suspended License Arrests)

4 Operators screened for Impaired driving

65 speeding tickets

10 Use of Handheld Electronic Device/ distracted driving tickets

18 Approaching Emergency Vehicle tickets

12 Defective Equipment tickets

9 other tickets
