SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On May 6th, 2017,  at approximately 2054 hours, the Vermont State Police, Middlesex  Barracks was advised of a single vehicle crash on I-89 southbound by mile marker 58. Troopers responded to the area and located the vehicle in the median between the Exit 9 on ramp and the travel lane of the interstate. The operator was not with the vehicle. Several vehicles were pulled over in the area and advised that they had damage to their vehicle from hitting debris in the roadway resulting from the crash.

Witnesses advised that prior to the crash they observed the vehicle operating at a high rate of speed, tailgating and passing unsafely before the crash. They also advised that the operator had left on foot from the interstate towards Route 2. A K9 track was conducted and the male was located 2 miles away on Route 2. Initially the male lied about where he was coming from, but eventually admitted to driving and crashing.

Brooks was brought to the Middlesex Barracks for processing.  Once at the barracks Brooks took off and led Troopers on a foot chase through the woods. He was captured a short time later.
