FW: Update: Missing Person Update / Shaftsbury Barracks

 

On 05/04/17, the search continued for Derek Lonergan in the Green Mountain National Forest in Woodford.  The Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team was assisted by New England K-9, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, Vermont K-9 Search and Rescue, the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department and a helicopter by the Vermont Army National Guard.  At approximately 1530 hours, Lonergan was located at a camp in the Dunville Hollow area.  He was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for evaluation.

In efforts to assist the Bennington Police Department locate Derek Lonergan, The Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team in conjunction with the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, New England K-9 and the National Forest Service, executed a search today for Mr. Lonergan in the area of Sucker Pond in Woodford, however Lonergan has not been located at this time.  Also assisting was the Bennington County Sheriff's Department and the Bennington Rural Fire Department. The search will continue on the morning of May 4th. We ask that the public does not go into the woods in this area as it may interfere with the organized efforts by searchers. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Lonergan is asked to contact either the Vermont State Police or the Bennington Police Department.
