SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On April 19, Vermont State Police Troopers responded to Landmark College in Putney, Vermont after a threatening message was located on the campus property.

The message, discovered written on a dry erase board, insinuated a threat of an impending active shooter situation.

Detectives, with assistance from school personnel, were able to quickly focus on two individuals who are students at the school.  When confronted, Lucas Wiener and Samuel Ripper acknowledged being responsible for the message.  This investigation is on-going.  There is no indication either subject had the intent or the means to carry out the threat, and there is no indication of a credible threat to public safety or the safety of Landmark College students/staff/administration.

Both students were issued citations to appear in Windham County Superior Court at a later date.
