SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On April 4, 2017, at approximately 2138 hours, Vermont State Police

conducted a motor vehicle stop on RT 78 in West Swanton, VT. The vehicle,

operated by Krystal Souza, was stopped for a minor equipment violation related

to the illumination of the rear registration plate.

Before Troopers could speak with Souza a vehicle operated by Bradley

Therrien pulled directly behind the Trooper. This forced police to reposition their

vehicle to be behind Therrien and Souza. Troopers later learned Souza

and Therrien had been traveling together.

Therrien quickly exited his vehicle and stood in the roadway yelling obscenities

at the police. Therrien refused to comply with numerous instructions to return

to his vehicle. Therrien was extremely agitated and continued to threaten the

police. His behavior continued even after Souza proved to Therrien the rear

registration plate lights were out.

Therrien's unruly behavior led to his arrest for Disorderly Conduct, Impeding a

Public Officer, and Resisting Arrest. Souza was released on a warning to repair

her rear registration plate lights.
