SUMMARY OF CRASH: On April 24, 2017 at approximately 0115 hours the Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single vehicle off of the roadway on Vermont Route 78, near the intersection of Tabor Road, in Swanton, Vermont.

 

The Vermont State Police arrived on scene and observed an unoccupied 2001 Chevrolet Truck, with minor damage, in the ditch, off of the westbound lane of traffic. Shortly after the operator, Amanda Wedin, 31, of South Burlington, Vermont, arrived at the Swanton Police Department to report the crash.

 

Investigation revealed that Wedin was travelling eastbound when she crossed into the westbound lane of traffic and drove off of the roadway and into the ditch.

 

Wedin agreed to conduct standardized field sobriety exercise and provided a PBT result of a .000% BAC. Wedin was taken into custody and transported to the VSP St. Albans Barracks for fingerprinting and processing. Wedin was transported to the Northwest Medical Center to conclude processing with an evidentiary sample of her blood. At the conclusion of processing, Wedin was released on a citation to appear at the Franklin County Superior Court on June 12, 2017 at 1300 hours to answer to the charges of Driving While Under the Influence and Careless and Negligent Operation.
