INCIDENT LOCATION: Putnam Rd, Searsburg, VT

 

ACCUSED: N/A

 

               VICTIM: David Sprague

               AGE: 59

               CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Windham, Maine

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On April 18, 2017 the Vermont State Police responded to a construction accident on Putnam Road in the Town of Searsburg, VT.   The investigation revealed that David Sprague of Windham, Maine was operating a crane on the construction site. As Mr. Sprague was driving under a series of high tension power lines, the crane struck one of the lines.  Mr. Sprague was electrocuted as a result of this and was pronounced deceased on scene.  An autopsy will be performed by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. 

 

Green Mountain Power responded immediately and quickly rendered the scene safe.  The Vermont State Police were also assisted on scene by Wilmington Fire Department, Bennington Fire Department, Deerfield Valley Rescue as well as Bennington Rescue.
