SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
During the early hours of April 2, 2017, members of the Vermont State Police were monitoring traffic on US Route 4 in Castleton, Vermont
At approximately 0127 hours, Troopers observed a vehicle traveling eastbound near Exit 5 on US Route 4 in Castleton, Vermont in excess of the posted speed limit and conducted a traffic stop for an observed motor vehicle violation. The operator was identified as Aaron Sears, 29, of Florence, VT.
While interacting with Sears he displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently screened for impairment. Sears provided a preliminary breath sample which resulted in a 0.161% BrAC.
Sears was taken into custody for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence and transported to Castleton Police Department for processing. He was later released with a citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on April 17, 2017 at 0830 hours, to answer to the charge of DUI.
