SUMMARY OF CRASH:  On 4/28/17 at approximately 2336 hours, VSP New Haven dispatch received an E 911 call about a single vehicle roll over at 431 East Main Street in the Town of Middlebury.  At approximately 2356 hours, VSP New Haven dispatch received a call from Middlebury Police advising this crash was located in the Town of Ripton and just over the town line.

Upon arrival of Vermont State Police, Fire and Rescue personnel were already on scene and advised the driver and only occupant in the vehicle, identified Charles Desjadon, had already been transported to Porter Hospital due to a head injury.

Further investigation found that just prior to the crash, a large section of rock ledge had let loose on the east side of the roadway causing several large rocks to fall onto and across both travel portions of the roadway.  As Desjadon was traveling up Route 125 he observed the rocks falling onto the roadway but was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting them.

The force of this impact caused Desjadon's vehicle to leave the travel portion of the roadway and roll at least once coming to an uncontrolled rest on the roof in the northbound lane of travel.  It was noted that Desjadon had the front portion of the roof on his Jeep Wrangler off at the time of this crash, causing his head to come in contact with the roadway.

No other vehicles were involved in this incident and Desjadon was treated and later released from Porter Hospital.

Vermont Agency of Transportation was notified and responded to the area to clean up the debris.  Upon this being done, the road was re-opened to traffic approximately 4 hours later.
