On March 29, 2017, at approximately 2022 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police- Rutland Barracks, were notified of a motor vehicle crash located on VT RT 100, Pittsfield, Vermont. The car was reported to have slid into a ditch off the roadway. While enroute, Troopers were notified the operator had declined medical attention, and was possibly impaired. During the investigation Troopers came into contact with Calvin M. Bristow. While speaking to Bristow, he displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Bristow was unable to perform roadside sobriety exercises as he began feeling the effects of injuries sustained during the crash while speaking with Troopers. While examining Bristow’s vehicle, Troopers detected the odor of marijuana. When asked, Bristow requested Troopers obtain a warrant. Bristow was transported to Gifford Medical Center for medical evaluation. Bristow provided an evidentiary sample of his blood at the hospital. Bristow was released pending test results of the evidentiary sample. At a later date, Bristow was then issued a citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on April 24th, 2017 at 0830 hours, to answer to the charge of DUI.
