SUMMARY OF CRASH:

Trooper Filipek received a call in regards to a motor vehicle off the shoulder in the south bound lane on I-89/mm110 and had stopped to investigate it. While on scene with his emergency lights activated, he retrieved the information from the operator of this crash and had requested a wrecker to tow the vehicle. After the initial contact was done, Tpr Filipek laid several road flares down around and behind his cruiser.  The Trooper sat back down in his cruiser to fill out paperwork for this crash

While the Trooper started filling out this paperwork, operator Kowalczyk was driving into this area and then his vehicle lost control veering towards the shoulder where Tpr Filipek was parked in the break down lane. Operator Kowalczyk's vehicle continued sliding, making contact with the State Police cruiser hitting it on the passenger rear bumper quarter panel area. Operator Kowalzcyk's vehicle then came to rest in the snow bank just behind the cruiser. Kowalczyk's vehicle sustained damage to the driver side quarter panel and trunk.

Tpr Filipek was checked and cleared with minor injuries and while Kowalczyk advised he did not appear to be injured at this time.

At the time of the crash the roadway had snow on them and it was snowing with fair visibility.

This crash is still under investigation.
