SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On 03/11/17 at approximately 2100 hours, Troopers from the VT State Police Royalton Barracks and Randolph Fire and Rescue responded to Chelsea Mountain Rd in Randolph for a single vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed that Vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound on Chelsea Mountain Road. As Vehicle 1 approached the Dickerman Hill Rd,  Operator 1, failed to navigate a turn in the roadway and traveled off the road. The front of Vehicle 1 then crashed into a tree. The front passenger was injured and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.

 

Further investigation revealed that Operator 1, Ballou was under the influence of intoxicants. Ballou provided a preliminary breath sample of .101 % BAC and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Ballou was then transported to the VT State Police Royalton Barracks for processing and was released on a citation to appear at Orange County Superior Court for the charge of Driving Under the Influence.
