New Haven Barracks / Motor Vehicle Crash

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 03/14/17 at approximately 0045 hours, Vermont State Police received a call from a homeowner at 2365 Hawkins Road in the Town of Ferrisburgh advising a male, identified as Mackenzie Sullivan of Ferrisburgh, had walked to

his home advising he had just been involved in a motor vehicle crash.  The home owner advised Sullivan did have visible injuries, so EMS & Fire were dispatched to the scene.

 

Upon arrival, investigation revealed that Sullivan, the only occupant in the vehicle was traveling north on Hawkins Road when he lost control of his vehicle and left the travel portion of the roadway.  Sullivan's vehicle collided with multiple trees off the east side of the roadway before coming to uncontrolled rest against another large tree.

 

Due to his injuries he was transported to UVMMC ER by Vergennes Rescue and later admitted to the hospital. Further investigation revealed Sullivan had been drinking alcoholic beverages prior to the crash and did provide a preliminary breath test resulting in a PBT of .124%.  Investigation into this crash continues and possible criminal charges may be forthcoming pending lab results.

Speed and alcohol are factors in this crash.
