ACCUSED: Juvenile

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On March 30th, 2017 at approximately 0047 hours Vermont State Police St. Albans was notified of a 911 call from a juvenile at an address in East Berkshire who advised that he was going to commit suicide. Troopers responding to the address were familiar with the juvenile and were assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arrival at the address Troopers heard the juvenile screaming from within the address and made entry. Troopers determined that the juvenile was alone and extremely impaired, and attempted to take the juvenile into protective custody. While being taken into protective custody the juvenile assaulted a Trooper and a Deputy, attempted to bite and spit on a Trooper twice, and damaged the interior of a State Police cruiser while under transport to Northwestern Medical Center for evaluation and observation. While at Northwestern Medical Center the juvenile threatened violence against multiple individuals on scene including hospital personnel and continued to scream and actively resist while being moved into the hospital.

The juvenile was ultimately placed into the protective custody of Northwestern Medical Center pending detox, further observation, investigation, and forthcoming citation into court at a later date.
