SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at approximately 1444 hours, The Vermont State Police received a 911 call from Dumont stating that he and Plante had hiked up the Sunset Ridge Trail starting from the Underhill State Park and were near the chin of Mt. Mansfield.  Dumont stated, he and Plante could not find their way off the chin and back to the trail due to very poor visibility.  Dumont advised that he and Plante had some cold weather gear with them along
with blankets, food, water and a whistle, but needed assistance getting back to the trail.  As resources were being activated, Dumont was able to get the attention of other hikers in the area by using the whistle.  Dumont and Plante were able to walk out along with the other hikers safely on their own.
