SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

1.      On Sunday, 2/5/17, at approximately 0115 hours the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Department was notified of a structure fire at 8 Union Street in Fair Haven, VT.     Upon arrival, the fire department discovered the unoccupied residence had heavy fire throughout the second floor.  The roof and second floor subsequently fell into the first floor and the structure is considered a total loss.  The fire department successfully kept the fire from spreading to neighboring structures.  No injuries were reported in relation to this incident.  The involved structure did not have power to it and the fire department subsequently contacted the Vermont State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit to investigate.  A member of the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit in conjunction with the Division of Fire Safety later responded to the scene to perform an origin and cause investigation.  The cause of this fire is under investigation.  Anyone with information about this matter is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-524-5993 or the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 1-800-32-ARSON.
