SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On the 02/17/2017 at 11:26 AM, Vermont State Police along with the Springfield Fire Department were dispatched to the area of mile marker 42 on Interstate 91 north for a reported car fire. Upon arrival the operator had gotten out of the vehicle and the Fire Department was working to extinguish the blaze. The cause is believed to be mechanical as the operator reported his vehicle was stuck in four wheel drive low prior to the fire starting. Interstate 91 north was shut down at exit 7 for approximately 1 hour while crews worked to extinguish the fire and remove the vehicle.
