SUMMARY OF CRASH: On February 3, 2017 at approximately 1155 hours VSP Williston Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 89 in Richmond at an area commonly referred to as the rock cuts. Investigation at the scene revealed that Operator#1, Shad W. Merrick lost control of his vehicle and collided with a metal guardrail end cap. Approximately 25-30 feet of guardrail was damaged as a result of the collisions along with 5-6 vertical support posts. AOT was contacted as a result of the extensive guardrail damage. There were no injuries or impairment issues. Speed was found to be a contributing factor. Merrick will be mailed a VCVC pursuant to Title 23 VSA Section 1081(a) speed restrictions. $220 and 4 points. Troopers remind citizens to drive as safe speeds during inclement weather conditions.
