SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On August 13, 2016 the Vermont State Police began an investigation into the untimely death of a 26 year old male due to an overdose of heroin/fentanyl. The victim was in the process of being transported by ambulance from the Tunbridge, VT area to the Gifford Medical Ctr. in Randolph when he was pronounced dead at 0212 hours. 

The investigation revealed that the heroin containing fentanyl causing the death of the victim was purchased from the accused, Jacob Rillo, the evening prior to his death. 

After combined investigative efforts with the Northern Vermont Drug Task Force into Rillo's sale of heroin, the Vermont State Police arrested Rillo for the above charges on February 17, 2017.  Rillo was at court for a status conference on unrelated charges and was arrested while leaving the courthouse.

This case will be referred to the Attorney General's Office for prosecution.
