NORTON DEATH INVESTIGTION

 

On Tuesday 02-14-17, at approximately 8:15pm, Troopers from the Derby Field Station responded to a 911 call of an injured person at the Patten residence located at 2298 Vermont Route 114 in the town of Norton. 

 

Upon arrival, Troopers and EMT's from Lyndon Rescue North found Leroy Patten (81) deceased inside the residence of unknown causes.  The caller was Janelle Stanley (53).  Stanley reported living at the residence with her father (Patten), that he suffered from dementia and had accosted her on this date, becoming injured during this incident. 

 

The Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and Detectives from Troop A BCI East have responded to investigate the scene and the nature of the incident. 

 

Investigators are working in conjunction with the Essex County State's Attorney Vince Illuzzi. 

 

Patten's body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy. 

 

No further details are available at this time.  Investigation is continuing.
