SUMMARY OF CRASH:

At approximately 0258 hours on 02/26/17, Troopers from the New Haven Barracks responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Pearson Rd, near the Otter Creek in Weybridge.  Upon arrival, Troopers located a silver, Subaru, off the road and partially down the embankment, "hung up" on a large rock, at the waterway's edge.  The operator was not with the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling south on Pearson and failed to negotiate the sharp curve.  The vehicle subsequently left the travel portion of the roadway, traveled through the dirt pull-off and over a large rock; ultimately becoming hung up on same.

While attempting to locate the operator, it was determined that the vehicle had been taken from a residence on Pearson Rd without the owner's consent.

Firefighters and EMS personnel from the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, the New Haven Volunteer Fire Department and the Vergennes Fire Department along with the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association responded to assist.

At present time, the operator has not been located.

This crash remains under investigation, anyone with information is urged to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-388-4919.
