CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Montreal, QC

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 2/1/17 at approximately 1717 hours, Vermont State Police learned of a missing

skier at Jay Peak Ski Resort.  Jay Peak Ski Patrol was notified by Ilona

Dougherty that her boyfriend, Daniel Van Gelder, 37, of Montreal,QC, had skied

out of bounds and gotten lost at approximately 1541 hours.  Jay Peak Ski Patrol,

Vermont Fish & Wildlife, Montgomery Fire Department and Vermont State Police

Search and Rescue responded to assist in locating Van Gelder.  At approximately

2030 hours, Jay Peak Ski Patrol located Van Gelder, healthy and unharmed, and

assisted him off the mountain without further incident.
