HOMICIDE ARREST– 12/11/16 MOUNT TABOR DEATH INVESTIGATION

 

**02/22/2017 UPDATE**  Mt. Tabor, VT, February 22, 2017 – Vermont State Polices detectives with the Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation have continued to investigate the shooting death of David Shores Sr. (age 54) that occurred on December 11th, 2016 at his residence on Brooklyn Road in Mount Tabor.  Investigation by detectives in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and Rutland County State’s Attorney, has revealed forensic evidence that David Shores Sr. was shot by another and that his death has been ruled a homicide by gunshot.  Investigation further revealed that the only other person in the residence at the time of the shooting was Peggy Shores (age 51), the wife of David Shores Sr. 

 

This afternoon, detectives arrested Peggy Shores in Manchester for second degree murder.  As part of the continued investigation, detectives and members of the Crime Scene Search Team with the assistance of Vermont Fish & Wildlife officers executed another search warrant at the Shores residence on Brooklyn Road in Mount Tabor. 

 

Peggy Shores was transported to the Rutland State Police barracks for processing. Shores was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000 bail.  Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday at Rutland County Superior Court Criminal Division, time to be determined.  No other information is available at this time.  Media inquiries are referred to the Rutland County State’s Attorney.
