Fatal MV crash/Barton

SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 2/25/17, at approximately 1544 hours, the Vermont State Police were notified of a single vehicle crash in on Tarbox Hill Road just north of Postman Lane in Barton, VT.

 

Upon arrival, troopers identified David C. Yanacheak as the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle which was positioned off of the eastern portion of the roadway with heavy front end damage. 

 

Investigation revealed that D. Yanacheak was the single occupant of a 2002 Chevrolet pick-up truck and was traveling north on Tarbox Hill Rd.  D. Yanacheak appeared to have veered off of the right side of the roadway onto the shoulder and then further into the roadway drainage ditch where it collided head on with a cement culvert.  D. Yanacheak was transported to North Country Hospital for treatment to his injuries.  He was in the process of being transported by Newport Ambulance to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for further treatment but died while en route as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.  

 

Neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors at this point in the investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this crash is requested to contact the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks.
