Fairlee Death Investigation

VICTIM: Cody Perry

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Vershire, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

Around 1500 hours on 02/08/17, State Police respond to a report of suspicious circumstances at the intersection of Bragg Hill Road and VT Route 244 in
Fairlee. Responding troopers made contact with a despondent, armed 26 year old male subject. Troopers attempted to provide assistance to the male subject, however the event concluded (after approximately 30 minutes) when the male subject shot himself. The decedent in this matter is Cody Perry, age 26, of Vershire, VT. Mr. Perry was in his vehicle alone at the time of this incident. Members of the Vermont State Police had responded and were attempting to provide assistance to Mr. Perry when this transpired. Emergency medical care was immediately provided, however Mr. Perry was pronounced deceased at the scene.  State Police were assisted at the scene by members of Upper Valley Ambulance and Orange County Sheriff Department. 

A death investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
