VIOLATION:  Extortion, Unlawful Restraint (2nd Degree), Burglary, Larceny from the Person, Domestic Assault

 

ACCUSED:  Ryan Perry

AGE:  21

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  Sheldon, VT

 

VICTIM:  (The Vermont State Police do not release the name of victims of domestic assault)

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On 01/25/2017 at approximately 1700 hours the Vermont State Police were notified of a residential burglary incident on School Street in Sheldon, VT.  The subsequent investigation uncovered an ongoing extortion scheme being committed by the accused, 21 year-old Ryan Perry of Sheldon, VT.  During this time, Perry extorted approximately $1000 in cash and $300 in property from his victim. 

 

The State Police investigation also revealed incidents of Domestic Assault, Unlawful Restraint (2nd degree), and Larceny from the Person perpetrated by Perry against his victim during this timeline.   

 

On 01/31/2017 at approximately 1530 hours Perry was taken into custody by Swanton Police Officers for an unrelated offense.   The charges resulting from the State Police investigation were forwarded to the Franklin County District Court in St. Albans, VT at the time of Perry’s appearance pursuant to that unrelated Swanton Police arrest. 

 

At the conclusion of his court appearance, Perry was held for lack of $55,000 bail for the above charges.  He is currently being held at the Northwest Correctional Facility.
