ACCUSED:       Arick Miller, age 29
                              Barre Town, VT

In late November 2016, an employee of Brothers Building Co., Inc. of Waitsfield reported fraudulent activity from a former employee whom they terminated in October 2015 as a result of fraudulent activity.  The former employee was identified as Arick Miller, age 29 of Barre Town.  Brothers Building Co., Inc. stated Miller was cited for False Pretenses by the Montpelier Police Department after they discovered that during the duration of Miller’s employment as a carpenter, Miller was charging materials to the company’s account at various lumber and hardware businesses that were unauthorized and the material was unaccounted for.

Brothers Building stated in November 2016 they discovered that payroll checks that Miller had cashed while employed with the company from August 2015 to October 2015 were again being cashed in October 2016.  Investigation revealed that Miller allegedly fraudulently duplicated payroll checks, cashed those in 2015 and then cashed the issued checks by Brothers Building a year following his termination.

As a result of the investigation, Miller was cited to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on March 16, 2017 to answer to the charges of Forgery and Fraud.   The Vermont State Police have had other fraudulent involvement with Miller, as he was arrested in the fall of 2014 for Home Improvement Fraud.
