SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On the early morning of 01-31-17, State Police were dispatched to a two vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a tractor trailer on VT Route 2 East, in the town of St. Johnsbury, near the Interstate 91 off ramp. Upon arrival Troopers were able to determine that Vehicle 1 had been traveling East on Route 2. Vehicle 2, a tractor trailer unit was stopped at the stop sign in between the East and West bound lanes with it's trailer blocking both East bound lanes. Operator 1 told Troopers that she did not see Vehicle 2 in the roadway due to the sun in her eyes, and when she did finally see it she was unable to avoid Colliding with it. Vehicle 1 collided with the rear wheels on Vehicle 2's trailer. There was extensive damage to the front of Vehicle 1, and minor damage to the rear axle on Vehicle 2's trailer. There were no injuries and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Vehicle 1 was towed from the scene due to extensive damage. State Police were assisted at the scene by St. Johnsbury Fire Department, CALEX Ambulance, and Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
