SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On January 24, 2017, at  approximately 1200 hrs, VSP responded to a report of a family fight on County Rd in Swanton.  Prior to arrival it was reported that both parties were separated and safe. After an investigation it was determined that L’Esperance arrived at the home to pick up a family member; he was unwelcomed by all residents, and an altercation ensued.  Sanborn struck L’Esperance’s truck several times with a 2x4, to which he retaliated by ramming his truck into a nearby parked motor vehicle near Sanborn, and proceeded to drive away.  DMV records show that L’Esperance’s license is currently civilly suspended.

L’Esperance was charged with Reckless Endangerment and Unlawful Mischief, as well as issued a VCVC for operating a motor vehicle on a public highway after suspension (Title 23 VSA 676). Sanborn was charged with Unlawful Mischief. Both parties were cited to appear in VT Superior Court on February 13th, 2017 for above offenses.
