SUMMARY OF CRASH:

                On the above date and time, State Police in Middlesex responded to a

two-vehicle collision on Elmore Rd in Worcester.  Upon arrival, operator 2 was

transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for minor injuries and operator 1

was unresponsive and entrapped in his vehicle.  Several fire and EMS crews

worked to extricate operator 1 and he was transported to CVMC as well for

incapacitating injuries.  Operator 1 was subsequently transported to UVM Medical

Center for treatment of his injuries.  Based on their investigation, State

Police have determined that the operator of vehicle 1 crossed into oncoming

traffic and struck vehicle 2 head on.  Further investigation is ongoing at this

time.

 

***UPDATE***’

Subsequent this crash, State Police processed operator 1 for suspicion of DUI.  Based on bloodwork drawn at the hospital, he was issued a citation and is scheduled to appear at the Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on 1/19/17 at 0800 hours.  The operator will answer to the charges of DUI with serious bodily injury resulting as well as Gross Negligent Operation with serious bodily injury resulting.
