SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On 01/08/17, the State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on US RT 5 in

Barnet. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located in a snowbank in a pull off by

Joe's Brook Road. There was no one with the vehicle.

 

Investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling south when it traveled off

the west side of the roadway. The vehicle narrowly missed a utility pole, but

struck a guardrail head on. The operator then drove the vehicle a short distance

to the pull off and left.

 

The operator was later determined to be Howard Ward of Monroe, NH. On 01/15/17,

Howard Ward was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Court to answer the

charge of Leaving the Scene of a Crash (Duty to Stop). He was also issued

Vermont Civil Violation Complaints for No Insurance, Vehicle not Registered, and

Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.
