SUMMARY OF CRASH:  On 01/27/17 at approximately 1319 hrs. the Vermont State Police, NewBrook Fire/Rescue, and Rescue Inc. were dispatched to a single vehicle into a tree on Route 30 between Brown Road and Hemlock Hill Road in the town of Newfane. Investigation revealed that vehicle #1 had been traveling north on Route 30 when operator #1 fell asleep, veered across the southbound lane, left the west side of the roadway, struck a snow bank, became airborne, and struck a large Hemlock tree in the area of its right front wheel. The impact snapped the tree which landed in the southbound lane. Following that impact vehicle #1 rotated around the tree in a clockwise manner and struck another tree on the west side of Route 30. Operator #1 was transported to the Grace Cottage Hospital by Rescue Inc. for treatment of what are believed to be minor injuries. Scott Brooks Towing removed vehicle #1 from the scene. NewBrook Fire personnel and the Windham County Sheriff's Department provided traffic control assistance at the scene.
