VIOLATION:  Attempting to Elude, Driving after Suspension, Gross Negligent Operation, Reckless Endangerment

 

ACCUSED: James Freeman                                                                                         

AGE: 35

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE:  Brookfield, VT

 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On the above date and time troopers from the Royalton Barracks attempted to stop Freeman for a speeding violation on Interstate 89 in Sharon.  Freeman failed to stop and began to flee high speed along Route 14 through Sharon and Royalton, taking some side roads and eventually back on to Route 110 and Route 14.  The pursuit continued north on Route 14 to Morse Road and East Bethel Road, ending at the intersection of Route 66 and Ridge Road in Randolph Center.  Freeman initially fled the scene on foot and was chased down by pursuing troopers and taken in to custody without further incident.  A female passenger was detained at the scene and released.  Spikes strips were used to end the pursuit.

 

Freeman was ordered held on bail pending a court appearance in Vermont Superior Court-Windsor Criminal Division on January 24, 2017 at 12:30 PM.
