SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 01/24/2017 at approximately 1422 hours, Wiltanger was traveling northbound on Interstate 91 in the area of mile marker 40/05 at approximately 65-70 miles per hour. Wiltanger reported that he encountered a slower moving tractor trailer unit in front of him and he made the decision to pass the tractor trailer. Wiltanger reported that after passing the tractor trailer unit, he lost control, struck the guard rail on the left side (median side) and then spun out off the road onto the shoulder on the east side of the roadway. Wiltanger was issued a VCVC for Speeds too fast for existing road conditions, a violation of Title 23 VSA 1081(a). The vehicle was pulled back onto the roadway by Hillside Towing. Springfield EMS responded to the scene to assist.
