SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On 01/31/17 at approx 0045 hours, while monitoring traffic from a stationary point in a pull-off on Rte 100 in Eden, a VSP Cruiser was struck by another vehicle.

Initial statements obtained indicated that Trp. Connor had parked his fully marked police cruiser in the pull-off located on the western side of Rte 100 just north of the Boy Scout Camp and was running radar with his parking lights on.  The vehicle driven by Dykema was observed traveling southbound on Rte 100 and upon approaching the pull-off, swerve off the main travel portion of the roadway before striking Trp. Connor's vehicle (passenger side to passenger side).  Trp. Connor was not injured in the crash nor were the occupants in the other vehicle.

While the crash is still under investigation, Operator #1 (Dykema) was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.  He was later processed at the Lamoille County Sheriff's Dept and cited to appear in Lamoille County Court to answer to the charges of DLS-Criminal after being found operating a vehicle without an Interlock Device as required on his license. A relate-back affidavit is being requested from the Vermont Forensic Laboratory due to the delay between the time of operation and the time of the evidentiary test and additional DUI charges are pending the outcome.
