SUMMARY OF CRASH:

Vermont State Police and South Burlington Police & Fire Department(s) responded

to a single vehicle collision that occurred on the I89 Exit 14 NB on-ramp.

Upon arriving on scene, it was determined that Vehicle #1 was entering onto the

NB on-ramp when it veered off the roadway and collided with a metal light pole,

knocking the pole down.  Operator #1 (Wassel) then drove into the median

(between the NB on and off ramps) where she reversed her direction.  She then

traveled up onto Williston Rd. where she attempted to drive over the concrete

center island which divides the east and westbound lanes of travel.  Due to

damage sustained in the crash, Vehicle #1 became lodged on top the center island

and only managed to traversed along the top of the island for another 75 feet

before coming to a stop.

Further investigation determined that Wassel was under the influence of

intoxicants and she was taken into custody for Suspicion of DUI. She was

transported back to the Williston Barracks for further processing and later

cited into court to answer to the charges of DUI - REFUSAL.
